Sore Throat
A sore throat is a symptom due to various reasons and most commonly occurs with upper respiratory illness brought on by virus or bacteria.
Allergies and environmental factors such as dry air, smoking/smoke exposure are all contributory to sore throat.
Other conditions such as reflux, hiatal hernia, and cancer can also present with sore throat symptom.

Voice Disorders
Care for hoarseness, vocal strain,
Laryngitis, mass, lesion, nodules, polyps of vocal cords, neurological disorder, vocal cord paralysis and vocal abuse are some of the causes of voice disorders.
- Detailed history and exam including an exam with a flexible scope are necessary to diagnose and treat.
- Treatment may include voice rest, speech therapy, antibiotics and medications.
Acid Reflux
Acid reflux can occur when stomach acid flows into the food pipe and irritate the lining. Chronic throat clearing, coughing, post nasal drainage, sour taste in the mouth, voice changes, chest burning sensation, throat swelling are some of the symptoms of acid reflux. It is considered chronic condition if you’ve had it twice a week for several weeks.
Untreated chronic acid reflux can lead to food pipe lining destruction, irritation of the vocal cords and upper airway irritation.
- We offer detailed counseling for dietary and lifestyle changes favorable to reducing acid reflux.
- If you’ve had chronic acid reflux and have been taking PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) for more than a year and wish to wean off, we have a holistic approach to help you wean safely and manage your reflux without traditional medications.
Oral and Throat Cancer Screening
Early detection and specialist referrals.
Detailed history and keen physical examination are key to screen cancer.
- We use a special flexible camera to view the area behind the nose all the way down to the voice box.
- Once oral or throat cancer is detected early referral to ENT Head and Neck specialist or Laryngologist is very important.
- We work with these specialists in the area and due to our professional relationship we are able to expedite your care.
